Collider Physics at HERA
نویسندگان
چکیده
From 1992 to 2007, HERA, the first electron-proton collider, operated at cms energies of about 320GeV and allowed the investigation of deep-inelastic and photoproduction processes at the highest energy scales accessed thus far. This review is an introduction to, and a summary of, the main results obtained at HERA during its operation. To be published in Progress in Particle and Nuclear Physics ANL-HEP-PR-08-23

The Physics of Deep-Inelastic Scattering at HERA
In this paper an introduction to the physics of deep-inelastic scattering is given together with an account of some of the most recent results on the proton structure obtained in electron– and positron–proton collisions at the HERA collider.
متن کاملVector Meson Production at a Polarized HERA Collider
A successful interpretation of the cross sections for elastic and inelastic vector meson production can be made if one assumes the underlying dynamics to be governed by hard partonic subprocesses. Extending these partonic approaches to longitudinally polarized electron-proton collisions, we estimate the expected production asymmetries at the HERA collider. The anticipated statistical errors on ...
متن کاملQcd Uncertainties at the Lhc and the Implications of Hera
Strong interaction physics will be ubiquitous at the Large Hadron Collider since the colliding beams consist of confined quarks and gluons. Although the main purpose of the LHC is to study the mechanism of electroweak symmetry breaking and to search for physics beyond the Standard Model, to maximise the precision and sensitivity of such analyses it is necessary to understand in detail various p...
متن کاملTests of the Standard Model at HERA
We review how experimental data collected at the HERA lepton-hadron collider have improved our theoretical and phenomenological understanding of the standard model, and specifically of its QCD sector. Invited talk given at the EPS Conference on High Energy Physics Tampere, Finland, July 1999 to be published in the proceedings

The luminosity of the electron-proton collider, HERA, will be increased by a factor of five during the long shutdown in the year 2000. At the same time longitudinal lepton beam polarisation will be provided for the collider experiments H1 and ZEUS. These far reaching upgrades to the machine will be matched by upgrades to the detectors. The result will be a unique facility for the study of the s...
